On this 100th anniversary of Geneva's birth (Geneva Helen Abbott, Commerce, MO), her art is getting a fresh presentation, even if the quality of the photos cannot be improved. Some few works are available for sale, so please inquire if interested. Most of the work here has been sold or belongs to family members.     While G's earliest works were in oil, for several decades most of her work was in watercolor. She did experiment with acrylic, and did return to oil painting from time to time.

Geneva's preferred photo for artist biography'
Geneva studied commercial art at Hadley Vocational School after being graduated from Central High in Saint Louis. She worked for International Shoe Company as a commercial artist until the late 1940's, from which time she dedicated herself to fine art. She was an active member and elected officer of the St. Louis Artists' Guild, an active member and leader of the Society of Independent Artists in St. Louis, the Ruth Kelso Renfrow Art Club, The Wednesday Club of St. Louis, and The Craft Alliance. She exhibited and sold her works in shows and galleries in the St. Louis area until moving to Hilton Head Island in 1980. Her works are in collections across the US, in Europe and Japan.
